Life-changing Goal-setting and Goal-achieving Process

Today we will talk about how to set life-changing Goals. And then the process of achieving your life-changing Goals. So there’s a process for both Goal setting and Goal-achieving.
We will also find some related components in the processes, like strategies, tactics, habits, beliefs, and reasons. We will discuss how these components interact with the procedures. And why they are essential.
We have devised the entire life-changing goal-setting and goal-achieving process as a pyramid, as shown in the image here. We call it goal setting and achieving process pyramid.
The main focus is the Goal itself, so it’s at the top of the pyramid. Other components come down accordingly. We will go through each of the elements of the pyramid.
Let’s start with the Goal, it’s at the top, and it’s at the top priority in the process.

Goals: Goal Setting Process and Achieving Process

Goal-setting and goal-achieving are two different processes. You need a specific approach to set your Goal. Otherwise, goal-achieving will be difficult for you. I’ll discuss more on the process later. But once you can set your Goal, you can start the process of goal-achieving.
The general belief is, Goal setting is easier than Goal achieving. But that’s not the case. Both are tough if you don’t have a crystal clear conception of them. I’ll try my best so that you can develop the right concept. Implementing the whole process will be easy if you have the concept built around the process.
Let’s start with the general mistakes people make setting their life-changing goals. The concept of the matter will take shape if we can identify the common errors in the process.

Mistake Number One: Your Commitment

Setting and achieving goals changes your life. You do need to understand whether you are interested in changing your life. Or are you committed to changing your life?
You may ask what the difference is? A lot of difference between the two. One of them represents failure and other successes. Let’s see how?
Say you’re interested in achieving your goals. You want to become wealthy. You want to develop good health, a perfect body, or whatever. You won’t do what it takes if you are interested in achieving your goals. Instead, you’ll do what’s convenient. You will do what’s easy and what everybody else does.
But you are committed not interested in achieving your goals. No matter what, you’ll achieve your Goals because you’ll do whatever it takes. You will learn what you need to learn. You’ll practice whatever skills you need to practice. You’ll go wherever you need to go. You’ll do whatever it requires to be done to achieve your goals.
The people interested in achieving something always find excuses. The people who are committed don’t have excuses. They give up all the excuses. They close their eyes to all the reasons why their lives or circumstances are the way they are.
They stop blaming other people. They stop blaming their circumstances. They stop blaming their economy. They stop blaming their lack of knowledge, logic, lack of education.
They stop blaming, and they put all their attention and focus on how they will and how they can achieve their goals.

Mistake Number Two: Allowing your past or present circumstances to control your life-changing goal-setting process.

You cannot consider your present circumstances while setting up your Goals. Also, you cannot let your past control your goals. You will be in the same situation if you do.
You cannot achieve your goals if you are reluctant to leave out of your comfort zone.

Mistake Number Three: Not having a Clear Perception Of Your Goals

People generally don’t have a clear perception of what they want to achieve. Most of them want to earn more money. But they are afraid to set the amount, how much money exactly? They also cannot specify a time frame to reach their goals.
Clarity on goals wins half of the battle. You need to set your Goals in such a way that you can measure your progress in reaching your goals.

Mistake Number Four: Not Writing Down The Goals.

Most people don’t understand the importance of writing their goals down. They think they have goals in their mind! Having goals in mind don’t work. It becomes difficult to focus and keep focusing every day! Soon after, they forget what their Goal was!
Be clear and precise on your goals. It would be best if you wrote them down in a piece of paper. Keep focusing on your written goals every day.

The Right Process of Goal-setting and Goal-achieving 

We will discuss on Goal-setting some more before we move down to others.
You have to start with absolute precision on what it is you want to achieve. This is too important in the life-changing Goal-setting process. Clarity on your Goal will increase the success of the process.
You need to take your goals as your focal point. The focus of what you’re committed to achieving in the different areas of your life.
You need to set your goals that are measurable and time-specific. You need to select the exact amount of money you want to have. You need to set the time in which you want to have that amount of money. And that you can measure the progress of your journey of goal-achieving.
An action initiates when you are precise and exact on your goals. Your brain starts receiving specific instructions on what to focus on. And then your brain drives you to the path of goal-achieving.
The most crucial part of achieving goals is putting the perfect focal point for achieving.

The Right Goal-setting

The right process of setting your goals is, set your Goal so big that it seems impossible to you at the moment. You don’t know how to achieve it. Set a goal that scares you, makes you uncomfortable. Or puts you in doubts and fear, or makes you anxious and puts you out of your comfort zone.
Say, you are earning $3000 per month. And you are setting your Goal making $4000 a month, that will not be a life changing goal setting.
Why? Because it indicates that you are considering your present circumstances. It won’t be hard to achieve an increased amount with a bit of extra effort. It may make your finance a bit comfortable. But It won’t make any big change in your life.
You set your Goal earning $10000-$15000 a month instead. And the amount seems unrealistic to you. You don’t know how you can achieve it. In this case, you are okay with your life changing goal setting.
Yes, the amount will create doubts inside you. You may think it is impossible to make such amount of money. But don’t worry! It’s normal because you are setting your Goal being in your present circumstances. You are considering your current resources and skill-set. But don’t worry about your doubts, fear, and disbelief!
You’ll be okay if you are committed. Follow the life-changing goal-setting and goal-achieving process pyramid. And all these doubts, fears, and mistrust will go away!
You have set your goals, whatever they may be, health, wealth, or relationship, you need to write them down. Writing down and focusing on that. Repeating this act sends a neurological message to your brain. That’s when the magic starts to happen.

Goal-achieving Process

You need to understand that there is a process to achieve whatever goals you set. We can define the process, as shown in the image. There are three things after you set your goals.
P- Planning
T- Tactics and
P- Procedure
You do not have to reinvent the wheels! There’s already a blueprint of whatever Goals you have. There were successful people in society who set similar goals in the past. They left the blueprint for success. They left their Planning and tactics, and there’s a procedure that you can follow.
For example, if you want to lose weight, you can plan what you should eat. And how much you should eat when you should eat. There are tactics to increase your metabolism. The tactics that you can follow to speed up your weight process.
Suppose you set your Goal to earn ten times more income than you’re making right now. There are also blueprint for achieving that. You have to focus on implementing Planning, tactics, and procedures.
You got to have your goals, and you’ve got have your Planning, tactics, and the procedure.
What you need to do is the Planning.
How you need to do is tactics.
And the procedure is just a system for you to follow repeatedly.

Habits: How It Dominates The Goal-achieving Process

People grow habits over time. These habits become daily rituals for most people. They have horrible, terrible habits. These habits show-up around Planning, tactics, and procedure to achieve their goals. Most people cannot keep up with the Goal-achieving process because of their past habits.

Why do habits make any difference? 

It makes all the difference in the world if you can develop the habit of focusing on your written Goals. Your habits will become your daily rituals. And they create a neurological pattern in your brain. It’s like a new map of your new Goal in your brain. Your brain starts seeing things in the physical world that match up with the Goal.
Most people never write their goals down, and that is a problem. Some people write their goals but never develop the habit of focusing on it every day.
Others don’t develop the right daily habits or rituals to achieve their goals. They only have hopes and dreams. But they’re locked in a neurological pattern, a loop of habits.
But if you want to break free to ten times more income, you have to break free. And replace the habit loop interrupting your success.
There are one or more triggers behind every habit you have. The same triggers cause the same routines and give you the same rewards. So you have a trigger, a habit, and a reward.
Now, what is a trigger? A trigger is something that initiates a routine. Triggers vary from person to person. A trigger can be you want coffee after waking up in the morning that starts particular routine work for you.
We know that our triggers, habits, and rewards are neurological. Something triggers you to think a certain way. Something triggers you behaving a certain way, and that behavior rewards you.
When you understand how to identify your triggers, and you know how to change Your routine. But we don’t have to change the trigger or the reward. If you can change the routine, you can keep the trigger’s ends and the reward the same.
Say you wake up in the morning, and you look at your cell phone to see the incoming emails. Why would you do that? Well, you do that because you’re habituated to doing it.
But you have to break your habits if you need to earn ten times more. Your response to your Goal will be the same unless you replace your old habits. Replace the habits. Go to a walk instead if the coffee in the morning was your trigger.
You replace the routine to change the habit by going for a walk. You start to develop a new habit if you do that for a week, a month, a year. Create new habits that will make it easier for you to put in place the Planning. Followed by the tactics and the procedure. And you have to develop something called awareness.
So goals, Planning, tactics, and procedure, and you have to back it up by changing behavior.

Beliefs: Another Dominating Factor In The Goal Achieving Process

Now number four of the goal achieving process pyramid is the belief. I believe I can do those goals. But they don’t behave in line with achieving those goals!
There are two types of beliefs. The first belief is an “explicit belief.” Now, an explicit belief is a belief that you and I could say to each other.
  • I believe I can achieve that.
  • I think I can make two or three times more money.
  • I could lose ten pounds in two weeks!
  • I think I could be in a happier relationship.
  • I believe that I deserve success.
That’s explicit external beliefs. We can declare it, we can talk about it, but this is not the type of belief that drives your habits or behavior.
The other type of belief is “implicit beliefs”. They are underneath you’re talking and telling people what you believe on the surface. Your implicit beliefs are underneath the surface.
They are what you think about in secret. What you think about is true about yourself.
When you are saying you deserve it, you are thinking, am I smart enough? Am I good enough? Do I deserve success? Do I know what to do? Can I do this? What if I fail? If I try my hardest and fail?
Beliefs and habits go hand in hand. Beliefs drive the perceptions and behaviors called habits. So if you want to change your habits, or break free from your old habits, you must change your belief.
If you have a goal of earning one hundred thousand dollars a year, but you believe that you’re not smart enough! You’ll never make a hundred thousand dollars a year if you have a belief that you don’t deserve success.
What you believe about yourself is nothing more than a pinnacle of what your parents taught you. Your teachers taught you what you’ve experienced and what you saw all around you.
That means that a pattern in your brain was created. Once that pattern was created and reinforced over time, you started to have habits around those beliefs. Those habits created the strategies and tactics which cause your results.
What I want you to do is reverse-engineer all this and change the process. God gave you and me the amazing ability to set any goal.
So instead of looking at your circumstances. And your background, education, current beliefs, current habits. And all the evidence you have right now about what you should set as a goal: wipe that slate clean.

The Big “Reason” of Life-changing Goal-setting and goal-achieving 

And now, at the bottom of the Goal achieving process pyramid, the big reason? Discover what your “reasons” are!
Why you need to achieve those goals, discover several important big reasons. Do you need a big loan repayment? Do you want more for your children? Whatever they are, you need to have reasons.
You develop the habits and the beliefs and understand how to develop the Planning and the tactics. You are ready to start a life-changing goal-setting and goal-achieving process.
